I have been home for 5 days ,enjoying some extra rest ,even though my schedule was not excessive it was extremely hot for the first two weeks. Last night I spoke to our youth at Church here in Bethlehem and said "a short term mission trip could change them forever". It's impossible to describe all the things you see ,smell and eat. Virtually every business, hotel and guest house is guarded by security with automatic shotguns and pistols, standing next to the guard at my guest house was a big guy whose T shirt said "Fat people are hard to kidnap". Kidnapping is very common in Asia , a quick way to make a dollar though one kidnapper and his gang was shot and killed near where I stayed ,they had done it 12 times.
As allways I was deeply impressed by the sincerity and committment of the believers, I was nervous about doing my first Pastors seminar (first for them too) but it went well and they have asked me back .Thats often a good sign!. Most of my ministry was directed to believers but at the one evangelistic event there was a large response to receive Christ.
Earlier this year we were able to purchase a motorcycle for a Pastor and his wife who had 3 Churches in the mountains, on this trip I purchased a one year old bike for a really poor couple to begin a small business, I have a photo which I'll try to include. Of course all the cell phones were well received including two more mailed from Portugal which just arrived. I was blest in that my overweight baggage went through on every flight. It was lighter when I came home. Nothing was stolen and apart from bugs in my bed at one dirty hotel and one missed flight my trip was smooth. Thanks so much to all who kept this trip in prayer.
Next Wed I am booked for a CT scan ,we are trusting for a good result. In the meantime I have scheduled a brief trip to the US , leaving NZ on June 12th. Currently I am booked on Sun 14th on Long Island am only , Greensburgh Pa Sun 21st, Bridgewater NJ Sun 28th am only and Scotch plains NJ Wed July 1st .
Returning to NZ possibly via Hong Kong on July 2nd. My travel agent is still looking for a special. If you live near any of my allready planned meetings and can arrange anything extra please let me know ASAP.I will be based at my sisters home on Long Island. PS to explain the photos, motorcycle, lunch at Pastors meeting ,Church bus called a jeepney, a warrior vest given to me after preaching at the international Church in Seoul.
