I have been home a week and want to send a brief outline of my trip and thankyou all for your prayerfull assistance.
I was blessed at the airport to find myself bumped up to first class on Qantas for the 12 hour flight to LA, that would have cost more than
my entire round the world ticket. A fancy meal and a full length bed was tremendous. Thank you Jesus.
My son Jonathan & his wife Teri were kind enough to lend me their van for travel in the US, I managed to put about 2000 miles on in a very short time.
It was wonderfull to catch up with some I hadnt seen for over 30 years, even had a small miracle while visiting with Tom & Sally Parfet in western Pa.
We went out to eat ,there were 5 of us and due to delayed service the restaurant donated the entire meal, and we didn't even complain.
I found that as long as I slept every afternoon I was able to maintain my schedule. The week I left NZ some lumps appeared in my jaw ,they
were biopsied and the oncologist confirmed by phone on the way to the airport that it was Lymphoma. He said he wanted me on chemo the week I got home. But my oldest friend Winkie Pratney whom I was in Primary school with ,asked me to stop by, he lives near the airport. He introduced a natural cure he had found on the internet, baking soda ,applied raw in my mouth at night. I did this for 3 weeks and the fast growing lumps reduced to less than pea size and are now painless.
Ministry in Portugal and Asia was more difficult due to the heat and a virus I picked up left me very weak. To better
explain that, it felt like I was walking through peanut butter. But we had great meetings or at least I thought so,I stayed with John & Ann
Macpherson who work with refugees in Hong Kong. Some made serious commitments to Christ ,when you renounce muslim & hindu beliefs its a
huge step. My final weekend was in China with a lovely couple, Caleb & Lotus, they have pioneered two Churches over the past two years.
The first pictured was very obvious even with red crosses painted on the outside walls, a building filled with people who were passionate for God,
and many of them with huge physical and financial needs. When we made the altar call half the Church pressed forward anxious for all that God had
for them. On Sun evening we visited their new Church ,the new believers had worked hard and brought 7 visitors, six of them accepted Christ,
see the photo above. The other picture is of hand made noodles drying in the sun.
On a humorous note I must tell about the 10 year old girl in Portugal who was proudly showing me her English skills, she counted to ten perfectly,
then said "I KILL YOU" with exactly the same accent as Acchmed the terrorist puppet. If you haven't seen that ,it's well worth a watch on U tube.
Its nice to see America exporting their culture!! Of course we are very gratefull to those in North America and the Cayman Islands who help us to share
Jesus around the world.
Perhaps the most challenging story I heard, was that China has an immediate need for 40 million Bibles. They estimate 400,000 are
coming to Christ each day. I was blessed to get a six month multiple entry visa, so would like to use that before it or I expire. If anyone would like to join me
for some exciting border crossings in Sept please let me know soon. A good friend wrote me today to say he has 30,000 Bibles ready to be picked up from a printer in China, they cost $2.50 each but he is unable to pay the printing bill. If you or your mission board can help please let me know and I'll send his details.
My oncologist told me last week he doesn't want to see me for 3 months ,so I have a window of service. I also have a data projector I want to donate to a large Filipino Church but it needs a laptop to drive it, if you have a spare one you don't need, we would love to receive it. Look forward to hearing from some of you who wish to leave the comfort zone.
