Dear friends and family,
A few weeks ago I watched some families pre-board a flight in Frankfurt. They had huge children’s strollers that looked like Moon buggies. It made me think of the primitive “umbrella” strollers that our 5 children were raised in. Later, I did see some of those in China. In a similar way I’ve observed massive changes in “church” life, speaking generally it does seem as though slick programs and entertainment have replaced the awesome conviction of the Holy Spirit. We need to constantly remember “It is not by might or by power but by my Spirit says the Lord.”
In a men’s meeting in Scotland I labored the point that no man on his death bed ever said, “I
wish I had more money in the bank.” Sadly in our modern society it is easy to be addicted to
attractions and distractions. Even in worship our focus can be lead astray by the sending
and receiving of text messages. Or even phone calls which I have seen happen in
churches. Could we imagine leaving our cell phone on while having an audience with
President Obama, the Queen, or the Prime Minister? I often wonder what Jesus thinks of
modern “church” life.
“Every time Dave Brett
has ministered in our church he has done so with a very clear and prophetic anointing.
Our congregation has always been consistently challenged and uplifted.
I highly recommend
his ministry!”

Fortunately, I spend half of my ministry time among people whose only distraction is hunger pains or untreated illness yet they still want to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.
After six weeks of travel and ministry in the US, Europe and Asia I arrived home in
better physical condition than when I left. Due to bronchitis, which I have had for 5
months some of the trip was a struggle. I am very grateful to all who assisted me along
the way. We are blessed to have the most amazing friends some of whom have stood
with us for 40 years. A Pastor I have been with several times in the Philippines wants
me to travel with him to a remote area for a series of crusades. I have been to this
island twice over the past 18 months. It is a 13 hour ferry crossing, but I am looking
forward to it.
Since being home I have had two infusions at the cancer centre and another scheduled this month. Last week I had INTRAGAM which will strengthen my immune system to kill the bronchitis.
Obviously in China I need to speak with an interpreter. Following a one hour message on an Old Testament theme, they asked if I would tell stories. Of course I was happy to do so. It seems that people everywhere like to hear of our personal experiences. My first meeting in the US was at Evangel in Scotch Plains, NJ. While preparing for those meetings I felt led to share on some of our early adventures and some of the stories that come with them. That message was added to their web site. Since then I have received E mails and letters from all over the globe, so
modern methods can be useful! You can find the audio online at: www.evangelchurch.com/audio_sermon_online.asp. Look for the April 11, 2010 message.
Pastor Kevin Brennan from Evangel was kind enough to add a comment on my visit, “Every time Dave Brett has ministered in our church he has done so with a very clear and prophetic anointing. Our congregation has always been consistently challenged and uplifted. I highly recommend his ministry!”
Our family continues to thank God for all who assist our call in prayer and financial support. Without Him and without you we could do nothing. We wish you every blessing in the powerful name of Jesus!
In His great love David & Darlene.
