David's Health Update
After our last newsletter, I spent a week in the USA with ministry in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. It was lovely to see some old friends and to meet a lot of new ones. I also had time with our family in New York.
From there I went on to Portugal where they kept me very busy in various parts of the country. Toward the end of the second week there I began to feel very weak. I had been passing blood for more than a month, and just before my last meeting I began to vomit blood. Even though I was white, and extremely weak, I wanted to do the last service which was a combined event in Braga with Baptist, Church of the Nazarene, Brethren and Christian Missionary Alliance. The four pastors prayed for me and I was supernaturally empowered to preach for 55 minutes. Afterwards, I could barely walk to the car.
Thinking that the cancer had advanced, I cut short my trip and flew home the next day.
I was admitted to the hospital for several tests on that same day here in our local hospital. A camera was put down my stomach, and they concluded that the voltarin I was taking for pain had caused the bleeding problems.
Today I am feeling much better and have new medication. In fact, I'm feeling so good that I've cashed in 60,000 mileage points and have a free ticket to New York. There were a number of invitations I could not get to last time, so now I need to plan a trip from July 20th to August 27th. God willing, I hope to travel up and down the East Coast by car, so please let me know if you can book a service or provide a bed. I'm going to take my time with plenty of rests in between.
On Thursday of this week, I begin receiving mega doses of Vitamin C by infusion. This is a relatively new alternative treatment that has shown to have some success with lymphoma. Treatments may be administered daily.
Darlene will be leaving on a long-awaited trip to visit her family in Montana and Minnesota on the 22nd of this month. She'll also get some time with family in New York the last week of June. Jason will get to travel with me here in her absence, which he has always been good about. He just had his 20th birthday. I'll include a photo of him, along with his girlfriend, Greta, and our daughter and granddaughter, Diana and Isabella.
Again, we thank you for your many prayers and support. I look forward to seeing some of you on my upcoming trip.
In His love,
David, Darlene & Jason
