Circuit Riders was a name used to describe John Wesley and others in his day who travelled by horseback preaching the Gospel. Today we travel by horsepower and jet fuel. The world has shrunk and it is a time of great opportunity.
The book of Ephesians, chapter 4, tells of 5 ministry gifts, all of which can be used locally or globally. Certainly the office of evangelist tends to be itinerate as he/she brings the message of the Gospel, encouraging and training the church in personal evangelism.
In the countries and churches where evangelism has been made a priority, the church grows both numerically and spiritually. When evangelism declines, the "bless me" mentality prevails.
Oswald Smith said, "God had only one son, and He made him a missionary."
Jesus said, "I have come to seek and to save the lost."
